This must happen.

It’s amazing what you stumble across on Twitter.  I wrote a tweet about Tim Powers, because I am reading The Bible Repairman and found out that Tim Powers feels the same way about Edna St. Vincent Millay that I do.  I used the hashtag #TimPowers and when I clicked to see who else used that hashtag and what for (something I do a lot) I found…

A Crowdfunding Project To Make A Stage Play Of The Anubis Gates!

The Anubis Gates is one of those books that I can say without hyperbole changed the way I look at science fiction and fantasy.  It is one that I have read dozens of times and keep finding new insights.

The cast is based in Las Vegas and the show will premier in London, so odds are that I won’t be able to see it in person, but I just funded it at a level that will get me a DVD of the production.

If you like my work and you haven’t checked out Tim Powers, you should, because he taught me everything I know about world building.  His work is a mix of historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, and surrealism, and The Anubis Gates is a masterwork. The idea of it being adapted to the stage just gives me chills.  I don’t ordinarily invest in crowdfunded projects, but this one I think is worth it.
