Currently in the pipeline I have stories in three anthologies and two magazines in the works:
This one is still open for submissions until the end of December. The theme is SF stories featuring disabled protagonists. My story, “These Were The Things That Bounded Me” is about a young man who is paralyzed from a spinal injury having to survive on his own after a plague kills everyone else in his small town.
This one is a collection of stories with the theme of Utopia. My story, “Endless Summer”, takes place in a world divided into those who are fed and clothed by the machines, and those who fix the machines.
The third collection doesn’t have a cover yet, it has the theme of “Magic Shops” and my story, “Grand Theft Nightmare” is about what happens when a trio of junkies break into the wrong store to try to score some drugs.
Also, in Millhaven’s next issue Tales Of Wonder, I have “Conessa’s Sword” a fantasy story about the power of love to make magic, and the power of magic to fight against darkness.
And currently out is Cirsova #10, with my story, “An Interrupted Scandal” which introduces the brilliant and diabolical Dr. Linus Fell, who uses a most unusual method for solving crimes.
In addition to these is another project that is nearing completion that I am very excited about, but can’t talk about just yet. I’m expecting the official announcement soon…
Oooh!! 😀
Do you have any particular strategy for searching out calls for submissoon? I’d like to begin submitting things more often, but as of yet I only know a handful of places to actually submit to.
Networking. Most of the calls for submissions I see are word of mouth from other writers. It takes time and effort to cultivate a creative circle. Join writers groups and get to know the folks who are selling regularly. The indie publishing scene is very informal and knowing the right people is the key.
Ah, cool; well, that certainly makes sense. I -have- made a start towards networking with other writers now (finally), so I’m sure I’ll start seeing more submission calls at some point or other.
Thanks very much!
I’ve been considering a post on strategies for marketing short fiction because it is different than selling novels.
The Submission Grinder is another good place to hear about calls for submissions.
I’m not familiar with The Submissions Grinder. Can you supply a link?
Certainly! Here we go:

Thank you. I’ll check it out.
You’re welcome. Glad to help.
